United Polaris in 2026 is two products under one name. On United’s new Boeing 787-9 “Elevated” aircraft, every business class seat is a suite with a sliding privacy door — and the front of the cabin has eight larger Polaris Studio suites with 27-inch 4K screens and caviar service. On the rest of the fleet, Polaris is the familiar open 1-2-1 flat bed without a door. Which one you get depends on the aircraft, so checking the seat map before booking matters more on United than on almost any other US carrier.
Beyond the seat, United’s strongest arguments are the ground experience — six dedicated Polaris Lounges with sit-down restaurants at ORD, IAH, IAD, EWR, LAX and SFO — and the Star Alliance network behind it. This review covers both seat generations, Polaris Studio, the full lounge network, food and bedding, and the Delta One comparison most US travelers are working through.
